[It seems pretty simple to Dylas. If Tony was stupid enough to eat Kite, then he kind of had to be killed, right?]

...Yeah, well, that's for the best, isn't it? I didn't know that was why he died, though.

Exactly. [He doesn't need Dylas's validation, but it's still satisfying to get it. That's what he's been saying this whole time. Tony brought it on himself-- though he would have deserved it even if he hadn't ate Kite, of course.]

[He's not trumpeting around what he did-- he thinks he deserves a parade for doing Haven the service he did, but he knows that some people are going to take it the wrong way-- but Dylas seems to be on his side now, and it's better to share the information on his own terms instead of letting someone else spin it later.]

I was the one that did it.

What?

[Dylas is still a nice guy. It's impossible, right? Haven has been horrible for a man with no memories, but he still flinches at things like killing. He just said it himself, too, that Tony deserved it. Kite dying was important. That bastard needed to die and there were more people that needed to die, too.]

He had it coming, right? He killed you once before, and Kite was a bastard. It sounds like you didn't have a choice.

[And he believes that, but he also wonders if Diego took pleasure in it like they did when they rubbed rotten carrots anywhere. He tries to dismiss that thought. He doesn't want to picture Diego a a killer, it reminds him of things Johnny said once.

But the bottom line is: Kite. Is. Dead. That overrides everything else.]

If you're the reason Kite is really gone, everyone should be thanking you.

Even Tony agreed that it was the only way, in the end. [accepted his death, if it meant protecting the rest of Haven.]

[It's such a foreign concept to him.]

[He understands that some people claim go believe in things like that. Sometimes they'll even act on it. But it's foolish. The idea of wasting his life on people who would turn their backs on him... but it's no problem of his if idiots are going to go through with it.]

[He killed Kite, and he killed Tony, as revenge for thinking they could touch him; the safety of Haven as a whole only factored into it because he himself is there.]

Most people don't know. But according to Tony, Kite was planning something-- he was trying to kill everyone off, once and for all.

He said that? [Dylas agrees. That's stupid.] Was he trying to look brave or something?

[It's probably a lot easier to do when you have an evil spirit inside of you, but Dylas can't relate to being heroic in death at all. At least they're on the same page for now.]

Is that what the whirlpools were about? Or was it something else?

Or he was trying to sound tough. ["you son of a bitch," Tony had said, just before he died; his fingers tighten around the phone for a second before he continues.] Maybe it made him feel better to think his death was worthwhile, instead of something he brought upon himself.

[he was wrong. he deserved that and worse.]

But I know that was the cause of the whirlpools. The rain slowed as soon as it was over. It wasn't a very good plan on Kite's part, was it.

Kite was some sort of monster thing, right? What did he think was going to happen when he ate him?

[People don't. Eat monsters for a reason. Also, it's gross. Tony is gross. Diego will be able to pick up on the disgust in Dylas' voice, but it comes from actually thinking about eating people (or monsters).]

Nope. Best thing that happened here in a while, actually. The rain swept out a bunch of monsters from the tunnels, so I was fishing for a while.

[he snorts in agreement-- he knows exactly what Tony was after, but he's still an idiot for pursuing it the way he did and not expecting the consequences.] Who knows. But the important thing is that Kite is gone now.

You finally got to use it. [the fishing pole, that is. and hey, do you remember how we first met?*] Was it better than fishing in the well?

[*this is a reference to a kanye song, appreciate it]

I'm not gonna miss that asshole. Good riddance.

[He scoffs. That's that. Kite is dead...and from the sound of it, that's pretty much all that can be said about it.]

Hell, yeah. The fish were disgusting, but there wasn't anything I couldn't catch.

[he laughs] There you go. Some good came out of that bastard after all.

Tch. It pisses me off that I could only fish because of him. Suddenly, it doesn't feel as fun as it seemed a minute ago.

Think of it as your revenge. The only thing his pathetic attempt to drown us accomplished was letting you fish.

[There's a long pause.]

...Between fishing and carrots, I'm beginning to feel like this place is making fun of me. Whatever. I'll enjoy what I can.

That's the spirit. Do it out of spite.
