I dunno. They just know we all love her and we'd probably do anything to get her back safe. Every time, it's like they just make a beeline to try and murder her or something.

[he laughs briefly; that's one way of putting it.]

It sounds like that's the answer then, isn't it? They know what to do to make as many people hesitate as possible.

[but a little girl... his first thought is the little one that follows Dylas around, the one he calls "Cherry Yuki," but he's seen her running around too recently.]

...Maybe there's something more to it. Something more than just 'because we care about her.' If they're acting under orders, they might've been told to take her back out.

Or maybe it's random. Maybe trying to get more out of your inside man isn't a bad idea.

She's the only one who really gives a crap about us. That's probably all it is. She can get in and out of the barrier and she's got actual ties to the rebels.

[it sounds like there's some possible strategic value here, independent of people being dicks-- if she can get through the barrier and knows the rebels... well, the yao corporation getting their hands on her is probably a bad thing.]

So as long as they have her, you're keeping quiet about the little con they're pulling. Any idea if she's even still in Haven West?

[Beast Boy shakes his head.]

Nah... But I don't think she is. I smelled everywhere, but her trail just... vanished in the explosion.

What do ya think, though? Is it a bad idea to hope people figure it out without spilling everything?

Relying on other people to figure it out on their own is useless.

[well that was blunt.]

I'm not saying none of them will. But you can't count on it. How many of them have ever seen the rebels before in the first place? How many of them knew they existed? Most of them aren't going to recognize the inconsistencies, and many of them won't have a reason to go looking.

At the same time, I doubt the Yao Corporation can really win over more than a few with this little stunt. Most people won't go either way.

...Darnit.

[Well, he did ask for an honest opinion, though he'd been hoping Diego would just say 'gosh Beast Boy I bet your idea would work out perfectly in every way!']

OK, well, I'm gonna try and figure out something else, then. If we're down to only four backstabbing pain-in-the-butts, let's keep them that way as much as possible.

I bet if I say 'butt' a lot, people will start associating Yao with it.

Sebastian or Yomiel, I'm guessing. I dunno how far the illusion went - maybe it can trick our senses into thinking there's blood and that kinda thing - but neither of them are human, and it'd explain what I was saying earlier about how her behavior was kinda off.

[He nods, tapping his fingers together in thought.]

I'm sure whatever they did, they had a way of masking their 'scent'... appearance, voice, it seems like they had everything but their memories.

[too bad, because he'd like to nail down who was who, if only to laugh about it later; he'll try sniffing around later, but he's not expecting that to yield a solid answer.]

It's a shame Cecil's not still here. He would've been obvious.

[He then attempts to... put on a bad American accent in a really terrible impression of Cecil's voice, holding up an imaginary microphone.]

'The Yao Corporation is not dressing up like rebels and destroying the housing spiral. I'm definitely not Cecil. I'm not supposed to talk about spirals, let's talk about something useless instead,' you know the drill.

[Beast Boy has to take a moment to laugh at that impression, despite the gravity of what they're meant to be discussing.]

I mean, Hyobu and Junko are gone, too, and they were like the poster twins for Yao and their special flavor of insanity.

Well, the options are either that they chose to get rid of him or that they don't have control over who goes, right? [he shrugs; it's something he's mildly interested in, only to see if there was some sort of factor that would help him stick around a little longer.] I'm sure even if it's the latter, they'll claim the former.

Maybe if the employees they already had stuck around for longer, they wouldn't have to stoop to stunts like this for recruitment purposes.

Does kinda make you wonder...

[Beast Boy hadn't seen storage, per se, but he had passed within about two inches of it, heard the word storage, and seen Morgan look definitely horrified at something or another. He prefers not to think too hard about it, though.]

Anyway, unless they start calling out their names again, we probably won't even know if they got anyone or not. Let's just put out the word quietly if we can.

[He hums absent-mindedly, toying with the can of beans as he sprawls across the couch as if he were in his own living room instead of, you know, being a terrible houseguest.]
